The Submerged Lands Environmental Resource Coordination (SLERC) regulates activities involving the alteration of surface water flows. We deal with a wide variety of contaminants, but the predominant contaminants are solvent from drycleaners, paint manufacturers and industrial degreasing operations; pesticides from old manufacturing facilities, pesticide mixing areas and golf courses; fertilizer from manufacturing facilities or accidental spills; coal tar from old manufacturedgas plants; metals from plating industries; and an assortment of contaminants including methane from old landfills. Most of our sites were contaminated prior to the enactment of environmental regulations or the source of contamination is unknown.
